Flatlay Photography Workshop
Saturday, April 5th 11am - 1:30pm
Create visually interesting images of artwork, collected objects, product or food using the very popular (and for good reason!) flatlay photography.
This workshop takes place in my studio (on the third floor, a freight elevator is available) at Spring City Mill Studios (Spring City, PA). A week prior to the workshop, I will send you a reminder for the event and travel details.
In this 2.5 hour workshop, you will learn the basics of lighting a flatlay scene, choosing props, composition, layering items for depth, how color changes the mood of a scene and simple edits of your final images.
What’s included:
Access to handpicked studio props, backgrounds and surfaces
A range of botanicals, fruit and mini desserts to use in your flatlay photography
Coffee + light snacks
Guidance on lighting and layout
I encourage you to bring a small bag of items to use in your flatlay photography. This can be anything that inspires you, tools/materials that you work with, or a finished product/piece of art. Please keep items under 16” at the longest length.
**Workshops require a minimum of 4 students for attendance. In the event of a cancellation, you will receive a full-refund 48 hours prior to the workshop date.

What is flatlay photography? It is a bird’s eye view of a surface typically showing items arranged in a pleasing manner. This type of photography works uses composition to “lead the eye” through the image, therefore letting you linger on all the interesting bits in the image.
Who is this workshop for? This workshop is great for artists, photographers, makers and anyone who is interested in leveling up their flatlay photography for website and social media use. You do not need previous photography experience to attend this workshop, we’re keeping it easy peasy and using our phone cameras!
